The CAREGA project aims to optimize the local forest-wood supply chain, efficiently using all fractions from forest management. In this respect, the goal is to transform low-value materials, such as chestnut trunks affected by the phenomenon of gluing, into a high added value product, such as charcoal, and analyse the technical-economical feasibility of the farm-scale production of charcoal by using local wood and new types of forest management on behalf of third parties, paying particular attention to forest certification.
Carega is a project funded by the RDP (Rural Development Plan) under the EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development).
